Remote SIM Provisioning for M2M
Built for machines.
Not people.
Full remote management of eSIM and eUICC profiles across your M2M fleet, in compliance with GSMA SGP.02. No end user, no site visit required.
The challenge
M2M devices don't work like consumer devices
There's no subscriber to scan a QR code or confirm activation. M2M devices are provisioned once, deployed into fixed or moving assets, and often need to keep working for years without anyone physically touching them again.
No end user interaction
Devices deployed in the field can't rely on a subscriber to guide activation or troubleshoot a failed profile download.
Regulatory requirements
Applications such as automotive eCall need SIM profiles that meet fixed compliance and safety standards from day one.
Long deployment lifecycles
M2M devices often stay in service for years, sometimes in locations that are difficult or costly to physically access.
Simplicity over complexity
B2B deployments need a provisioning model built for straightforward management at volume, not consumer-facing activation flows.

Platform architecture
Built on the GSM Association SGP.02 standard
Card Centric's M2M platform is fully compliant with GSM Association SGP.02 (v3.2), the original remote SIM provisioning standard developed for the machine to machine industry. It gives operators the ability to manage eSIM and embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC) profiles over the air, remotely, at any time.
SM-DP
Remote provisioning server
Data preparation for download. Generates and encrypts SIM profiles, ready for remote delivery to the device.
SM-SR
eUICC management
Subscription manager for secure routing. Handles enabling, disabling and deleting profiles across the device estate.
M2M
Machine to machine deployment
Remote management of eSIM profiles across many markets, without physical access to the device.

Common questions
What is eSIM M2M remote provisioning?
It's a GSMA SGP.02-compliant platform that lets operators manage eSIM and eUICC profiles on machine to machine devices over the air, without requiring a subscriber to activate the device.
How is this different from consumer eSIM (SGP.22)?
Consumer eSIM is built around subscriber-driven activation, such as scanning a QR code on a phone. M2M removes that step entirely, since there's no end user available to complete it.
How is this different from eSIM IoT (SGP.32)?
SGP.32 is the newer GSMA standard purpose-built for IoT devices, including constrained and low-power hardware. SGP.02 was the original M2M standard and remains in wide use for existing deployments.
Does the platform support regulatory use cases like eCall?
Yes. The platform can support compliance-driven applications such as automotive eCall, where SIM profiles must meet fixed regulatory requirements.
Can profiles be managed after the device is deployed?
Yes. Profiles can be enabled, disabled or updated remotely at any time, even after the device is in the field and no longer physically accessible.
